There is no denying the fact that every one of us wants to have the most attractive smile, some of us are even gifted with the perfect one, but still we cannot. The prime reason being we all are afraid of showing the disorders in our teeth, whether small or big such as tooth decay, cavities, tooth infection, Gingivitis to name a few and secondly we just don’t want to go the dentist. But the perception is slowly fading away with the growing number of friendly and cost effective treatments like Tooth whitening, Veneers, Crowns & Bridges, Dental inlays, etc.

The newest concept to join the list of multiple options available for straightening the misaligned teeth is Invisalign. As the name suggests, the alignment is done with the help of custom-made plastic trays that are transparent which makes the movement of teeth in to the desired position visible. Invisalign does way with the use of metal wires (Braces) and the discomfort associated in wearing them including cuts and scratches.

The entire process is simple and requires one to wear the aligners, that is, plastic trays for 20-22 hours a day that are changed every 2 weeks. Unlike braces, the trays can be removed for brushing thereby assisting to maintain the gums as well. The trays also help to make the gaps between the teeth look smaller or even disappear.

Invisalign usually takes a month but the actual duration of the treatment depends upon the nature of alignment required. So the treatment offers customization for each individual and involves a series of steps to make you smile always.

Another advantage of the treatment is that it also helps to whiten teeth apart from offering minimal discomfort.

Salient Features of Invisalign:

Recommended for people above 14 years of age

Dental impressions, photos and X-Rays are taken and analyzed by technicians to determine the nature of alignment needed and treatment time

Doesn’t require one to wear Braces

Easy to use aligners

Aligners used can be painted to hide gaps between the teeth

Complementary Tooth whitening

In comparison to braces, the aesthetic appeal is given due weightage

Offers high comfort level

So next time don’t think too much before going to the dentist because he can make you smile all the time and the way you wanted.

Dental hygiene is one of the most important, but often neglected, aspects of your health. New research has linked poor dental hygiene to heart disease, low birth weight, and an array of health issues beyond gum disease and tooth loss. Therefore, it is extremely crucial to practice adequate dental hygiene and have a dental care routine in place.

The first step is to brush your teeth at least twice per day. Although manual toothbrushes still remove plaque and grime, electric powered toothbrushes are recommended by most dentists. chicago dentists recommended brushing your teeth for two to two and a half minutes per brushing. However, most people only brush an average of one to one and a half minutes.

In addition, many people brush too quickly and too harshly which can cause you to miss plaque deposits along the gum line as well as lead to gum recession. An electric toothbrush eliminates these problems as they include a timer that is set to the proper amount of time needed to brush your teeth. Once this timer goes off, the toothbrush will shut off as well. This feature ensures that you are brushing your teeth for the recommended time period. Furthermore, the rotating bristles are made to not rub the gums too hard while still brushing along the gum line where needed. Failure to brush your teeth can eventually lead to tooth loss, gum disease, infections and other secondary health problems.

In addition to brushing your teeth, flossing is a very important aspect to a healthy dental routine. It is important to floss daily to remove food and plaque from between the teeth. Plaque buildup between the teeth is also a major contributor to gum disease. Fluoride coated floss is better than standard wax as it can better grip in between the teeth and remove particles. Also, when flossing, make sure to move the floss back and forth two to three times between each tooth to ensure that all particles are removed. Your gums may bleed when you first begin a flossing regimen. However, keep flossing daily in between all teeth until the bleeding stops. This is a signal of healthy gums. Failure to floss regularly can lead to gum disease as well as tooth loss.

Mouthwashes and rinses are also a helpful tool for fighting cavities and preventing gum disease. Mouthwashes can help to remove particles from in-between the teeth, on the teeth, and on the tongue. However, rinses should not be used as a substitute for brushing or flossing. They are merely an aide. Although mouthwashes are not essential, they can help to eliminate bad breath and provide a cleaner mouth. If you do use a mouthwash, make sure to gargle prior to brushing. This loosens food particles and plaque for brushing.

Although there is a lot that you can do on your own to maintain proper oral hygiene, visiting a dentist in Chicago is still an important element for keeping a healthy mouth. It is recommended that you see the dentist twice a year for a cleaning and check up.

Prevention is the key to healthy oral hygiene. Proper brushing, flossing, and using mouthwashes will help you to avoid tooth loss, gum disease, gum recession, and other more serious illnesses. In addition, visiting your dentist regularly will help to ensure that you keep your pearly whites for years to come.

Maintaining a healthy mouth is an important facet of overall health, but doing so is a process that goes beyond regularly brushing. By following a few dental health tips, you can save yourself large amounts of hassle, time, and pain.

Brushing two to three times daily is a key component to maintaining excellent oral hygiene. It isn’t all a gimmick to sell toothbrushes and toothpastes! Brushing frequently and properly dislodges food particles that can adhere to teeth, leading to plaque buildup. Brushing your teeth more than once a day also keeps your breath smelling fresh, especially if you do it right after meals. When brushing, be sure to go over each tooth surface multiple times, and monitor the force used. Brushing too hard can damage the gums and result in unnecessary bleeding.

In order to brush properly, make sure to research what kind of toothbrush and toothpaste work best for your individual needs. Conditions such as sensitive gums can affect your choices, as well as personal preferences. For toothbrushes, whether manual or electric, replacement every three months is advised in order to achieve the best results. When it comes to choosing the right toothpastes, make selections for functionality and practicality; if you hate the flavor of your toothpaste, you won’t be using it as correctly as you should.

Flossing provides a cornerstone to dental health, as teeth naturally have gaps between them where particles can become trapped. This can’t always be addressed even with proper brushing, and sadly flossing is often the most neglected practice. Flossing twice a day can remove trapped particles and harmful bacteria, which can prevent gum disease, halitosis, and other dental complications. Working flossing into your regular dental routine might be a little awkward initially if it’s a new thing, but the benefits are immeasurable.

Rinsing with a proper fluoridated mouthwash offers another avenue for ensuring good oral hygiene. The antiseptic properties of mouthwash take care of bacteria hiding in even the hardest to reach places, along with giving attention to the gums and tongue. A boost to fresh breath is an added benefit, and using a mouthwash as the last step in a dental routine before bed can have noticeably positive effects in the morning.

While all of these tips involve choosing and using products correctly, regular dental visits are the most important part of maintaining dental health. Visits twice a year for cleaning and examination can catch problems in their early stages, which in the long run often saves money, time, and pain. Dentists are trained professionals that can assist you in correctly treating any issues and maintaining healthy teeth and gums. Dentists can answer questions about what products might work best for you, what areas you need to work more on, and offer encouragement as you improve your dental hygiene.

Ignoring a “small” dental health problem and not consulting with a dentist can lead to painful situations, such as undergoing a root canal or suffering through the pain of periodontal disease. In order to avoid these kinds of things, consulting with an aventura dentist along with brushing, flossing, and using mouthwash daily are essential. All of these components fit together to aid in good dental health, so picking and choosing won’t take care of everything.
